Frequently asked questions

Answers, honestly.

Straightforward answers about H-2A work, visas and our services. Can't find what you're looking for? Ask us directly.

WorkersWhat is the H-2A visa?

The H-2A programme allows U.S. agricultural employers to hire workers from other countries for temporary or seasonal farm work when not enough U.S. workers are available. The visa is temporary and tied to an approved employer and job.

WorkersDo I need a job offer before I can apply?

Yes. An H-2A visa is linked to a U.S. employer whose application has been approved by the U.S. authorities. You can't apply for an H-2A visa on your own without a sponsoring employer. We help with recruitment and placement support, and then guide you through the visa application once an employer's petition is in place.

WorkersShould I ever pay for a job offer?

U.S. H-2A rules prohibit employers, and recruiters acting on their behalf, from charging workers recruitment fees for an H-2A job. Be very careful of anyone who asks you to pay to be offered a job, and always ask for written information about any service you're paying for.

WorkersWho pays for housing and travel?

Under the H-2A programme, employers must generally provide housing at no cost to workers who can't reasonably return home each day, and transport between that housing and the worksite. Inbound travel and daily subsistence costs are reimbursed once you complete half of the work contract (or earlier where the law requires), and return travel is paid if you complete the contract. Your job offer will set out the details.

WorkersHow will I be paid?

H-2A employers must pay at least the highest of the applicable wage rates set by the U.S. Department of Labor, and guarantee work for at least three-quarters of the hours in the contract period. During orientation we explain your working hours, pay arrangements and workplace procedures so you know exactly what to expect.

WorkersWhat happens if I have a problem while I'm working?

We provide a confidential channel for employee concerns, record and escalate grievances, support communication between workers and farm management, and carry out welfare check-ins during the season. Where specialist help is needed, we refer you to the appropriate support services.

VisaCan you guarantee that my visa will be approved?

No — and nobody honestly can. All visa decisions are made by the relevant U.S. authorities. What we do is help you understand the process, prepare and organise your documents carefully, complete your DS-160 accurately with the information you provide, and prepare you for your interview.

VisaWhat is the DS-160?

The DS-160 is the U.S. Department of State's online non-immigrant visa application form. Every H-2A and H-4 applicant completes one before their visa interview. We help you complete it accurately using the information you provide, and explain each section so nothing is missed.

FamilyCan my husband or wife come with me?

If you've been approved for H-2A work, your spouse may be eligible to apply for an H-4 dependent visa to accompany or join you. Unmarried children under 21 may also be eligible. Our family visa service helps spouses understand the process and prepare their application.

FamilyCan my spouse work in the U.S. on an H-4 visa?

An H-4 dependent visa does not, by itself, authorise employment in the United States. We'll explain what the H-4 visa does and doesn't allow before you apply.

VisaWhat documents will I need?

Typically a valid passport, a visa photo, your DS-160 confirmation, your appointment confirmation and fee receipt, your employer's petition details and supporting documents such as proof of experience. Use our interactive document checklist to track your progress — your consultant will confirm the exact list for your case.

VisaAre you a law firm?

No. We provide application assistance and administrative guidance, not legal advice. Where your situation needs legal advice, we refer you to qualified immigration and employment-law professionals.

EmployersHow far in advance should we start planning an H-2A season?

The job order must be submitted 60 to 75 days before your first date of need, and the H-2A application filed with the Department of Labor at least 45 days before. We recommend starting your planning four to five months ahead. Try our H-2A season planner to see your key dates.

EmployersDo you replace our immigration attorney or H-2A agent?

No. Our services provide administrative and operational support and work alongside your authorised agents and U.S.-based specialists. They don't replace legal advice or specialist immigration, payroll or regulatory services.

EmployersDo you work remotely or on-site?

Both. Our HR services can be delivered remotely, on-site or as a mix of the two, depending on what your operation needs. We can also carry out weekly or monthly inspections of staff accommodation.

EmployersHow much do your HR packages cost?

Our packages start at $300–$500 a month for HR Administration, $600–$1,000 a month for H-2A Workforce Support and $1,200–$2,000+ a month for Complete Outsourced HR Support. The final price depends on your workforce size and the support you need. Compare packages.

EmployersCan a package be customised for our farm?

Yes. Whether you employ a small seasonal team or manage a larger agricultural workforce, we tailor our administrative support to your operational needs. Contact us to discuss a customised HR support package.

EmployersWhat happens at the end of the season?

We help you close out the season properly: final timesheet and payroll record checks, employee file completion, return transport coordination where applicable, exit interviews and feedback, incident and grievance file completion — and next-season workforce planning.
